Tribal Afro Peruvian Dance
Afro Peruvian music also known as Festejo (which means Celebration) is a typical rhythm that comes from Peru, and tells the story of how African slaves become free in Peru. This dance is very energetic and full of emotions. Perfect for hyping up people's mood. It's got a lot of percussion instruments and hip and shoulders moves. My workshop consists on the following: Brief presentation and history of this traditional dance. Warming up session getting into the music rythm. Learning and practicing main basic steps. Following an easy side choreography to put those steps in practice. Teaching the main choreography step by step. Relaxation time after the workshop with breathing exercises and stretching. The whole duration of the workshop can last about 1 hour or 1 hour 15 min. I just participated with this workshop at Mushroom Valley Festival and in Global Grooves Mackay Festival. Both times it was a complete success, though I would recommend it for daytime as it requires a lot of energy and can get very sweaty, so people might want to get into the river. Thanks for the opportunity!
