Notion is the Naarm/Melbourne-based project of Australian producer, DJ, and visual artist, josh m.

With a love for liquid-metallic sounds, squelchy electronic textures, and funky rhythms, his style fuses the organic and industrial into a blend of progressive trance and psychedelic techno. Whether through art or music, every creation tells a story — the core of each Notion.

He’s also one-third of the team behind Capture Experience, where he serves as Creative Director, curating immersive events and experiences that have shaped Naarm’s underground scene for years.

He’s performed at festivals such as Tanglewood Festival, Dragon Dreaming, and Interstellar Groove, and at Naarm institutions such as Revolver Upstairs, Lucky Coq, and My Aeon, alongside collectives like Capture Experience, Wisers’ Shadows, Synaesthetics, and more. Internationally, he’s taken his sound to Portugal, performing at Recovery Collective’s ESTRANGEIR at Fábrica Braço de Prata and the NVRMIND Travel Boat Party in Lagos.
