Jesse Kuch

Jesse Kuch is a journalist, DJ and founder of pioneering label Open Records, one of Australia’s most celebrated electronic music imprints. Across more than two decades, Jesse has balanced a high-level media career with managing Open and performing at the country's most significant outdoor and club events, helping bring Australia’s distinct sound to a global audience.

As a DJ, he has performed everywhere from major clubs in Japan to mainstage festival slots including Rainbow Serpent, Earth Frequency, Subsonic, Strawberry Fields and Rabbits Eat Lettuce, alongside supporting a long list of international luminaries.

In 2020, Jesse launched his own production project, Boy With Kuch, in collaboration with fellow Brisbane innovator Will Olsen (Time Before Eyes). Their debut remix of Thankyou City’s classic Nothin’ But Chi earned support from heavyweights like Hernan Cattaneo, Blond:ish, Jamie Stevens and Eli & Fur. They have since followed up with reworks for Melbourne’s Tonelab on Open and UK icon James Monro for US label Proton Music.

With the 20th anniversary of Open Records fast approaching and new studio material on the way, Jesse continues to build on a legacy that has helped define Australian electronic music culture.
