Becca Hatch

In a short span of time, Sydney artist Becca Hatch has carved an enviable niche in the Australian contemporary R&B and dance scene that is wholly her own.

The Kamilaroi/Samoan artist first rose to prominence winning Triple J Unearthed High’s Indigenous Initiative (2017). Since then, Becca has established herself as a dynamic artist whose voice and inimitable style places her at the vanguard of Australian artists bringing R&B/dance-centric music back to prominence.

Courting attention with the release of debut single ‘2560’ (2020), Hatch instantly demonstrated a vocal proficiency well beyond her years with a tone drenched in rich soul

quality.

Early influences included the likes of Ariana Grande and H.E.R., though as Becca continues to evolve as an artist, her style has diversified, her scope broadened and her ambition galvanised. Now, threads of youthful romanticism intertwine with those of seasoned life experience.

The release of club-ready singles ‘Without You’ and ‘Blessed’ (2022) saw a self-assured Becca experimenting with a new direction. Both tracks showcased Hatch’s ability to move

seamlessly from her R&B roots into the disco/dance/pop world and were championed by triple j, FBi, and iHeart Australia.

The same year, Becca played over 40 shows including debut headline events at Phoenix Central Park and Sydney Opera House, as well as winning new fans supporting Spacey Jane and Vera Blue on their national tours. Becca also performed RISING FEST, A More Perfect Union (Gang of Youths Festival), Grapevine Gathering and NYE in the Park.

Like her music, Becca’s personality captivates. Australian audiences have become enamoured with her. Now a multiple APRA Award and ARIA Award (2023) nominee, Becca is conscious of the positive role she can play for her contemporaries - particularly in her community – and is refusing to be defined or boxed in by labels, genre restrictions or public perception.
